West Ham are reportedly in talks to sign £12million midfielder

West Ham United are having advanced talks with Newcastle United over the possible transfer of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to Daily Star.

West Ham United are in an upward trajectory in recent weeks, finally putting their disappointing start to the season behind them and are looking to move away from the relegation zone in the Premier League table under manager David Moyes.

In their bid to sustain this rise, the Hammers are believed to be looking for new signings and have identified some ambitious targets for the current transfer window.

It has been reported that West Ham are interested in Newcastle United’s midfield maverick Jonjo Shelvey and the Hammers have already made a bid of around £12million for the ex-Liverpool midfielder.

Despite the magnitude of the offer, it is believed that Newcastle are not going to accept the bid yet and will only allow the talks between West Ham and Shelvey progress after the Magpies have sorted a replacement for the 25-year-old.
