Sunderland veteran John O’Shea has warned club owner Ellis Short to help manager Chris Coleman make signings this month as the Black Cats look to avoid relegation from the Championship.
The Black Cats are currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship standings and as the club is cash strapped, Coleman is looking to mainly bring in players on loan this month.
The former Manchester United man, O’Shea however is hopeful that Short will release funds so that Coleman can bring in players to the squad.
One of the more exciting players that the Black Cats have been linked with recently is Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn.
“Our objective is get out of there, but the manager is going to need help from the owner,” O’Shea told BBC Newcastle.
“Fingers crossed he’ll get that but if he doesn’t we have to put up, everyone that’s here. Whatever the manager can do with loans the next couple of weeks, we still have to get on with it, do the best we can and look forward to and face challenges with our chests out.
“The way the Championship is, with a couple of results we can be out of the relegation zone very quickly, and that’s the aim.”
