Birmingham Mail reports that Nottingham Forest are the last club that have shown interest for Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton.
Aston Villa and Leeds United have both been linked with the player since the transfer market officially started. According to the same source, Cardiff City have the highest odds to sign Clayton in January.
Clayton arrived at Riverside Stadium from Huddersfield Town back in 2014, and he has managed to establish himself as a regular first-team member ever since.
However, this season, he has dropped out from the squad mainly due to injuries. The previous Boro manager Garry Monk has used him primarily as a substitute, and nothing has changed after his release.
The former Manchester City payer is out of favor at Middlesbrough, and current manager Tony Pulis has nothing against his departure. On the other hand, Aston Villa and Leeds need to strengthen their squads to enhance their Premier League promotion chances.
Since four clubs are interested in Clayton, Middlesbrough will be able to raise his price up.
