Birmingham Mail states that Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis wants to bring Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton to Riverside Stadium.
Former Scotland international has a solid season, as he was Steve Bruce’ first choice on the right-back position. But, his contract with Villa expires this summer, and Hutton has yet to pen a new deal.
The experienced 33-year-old defender arrived at Villa Park from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2011, but he had troubles to adapt to his new club, so he spent the next three seasons on loan spells.
However, after he returned from Bolton Wanderers in 2014, he managed to establish himself as a regular starter.
Middlesbrough’ new chief of staff Tony Pulis is looking for a reliable defender after both Cyrus Christie and Ryan Shotton have failed to impress him.
Aston Villa have Ritchie De Laet and Ahmed Elmohamady who can also cover the right flank, and Hutton could leave Villa Park in January.
