West Ham are interested in bringing Belgium international and Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker to east London this month, reports Nieuwsblad.
The 22-year-old utility player is currently rated £17million by the Belgian Pro League defending champions, but will only be available for double the fees come summer, presenting the Hammers with a great opportunity to swoop before February begins.
Dendoncker played a huge role in Anderlecht’s title-winning campaign last term, and has been in impressive form this season as they look to finish in the Champions League places behind runaway leaders Club Brugge.
A deep midfielder remains top priority for West Ham this window, and Dendoncker, who has largely played as a centre-back this term and also capable in attacking midfield ticks all the boxes.
He’s physically imposing and very strong, and having made over 150 senior appearances for Anderlecht, the fine passer brings experience to the table.
Dendoncker also has a lot of time ahead of him to get even better, and the Hammers could be having a long-term asset on their hands should a deal go through.
