Sunderland are reportedly set to sign Chelsea youngster Jake Clarke-Slater on loan this month.
The 20-year old has not yet established himself within the Chelsea first team after having spent last season on loan with Bristol Rovers for whom he made 13 appearances and scored one goal.
Clarke-Slater was part of the England U-20 squad that won the world Cup last summer and Chelsea legend John Terry has also previously mentioned that the youngster could be his successor at Stamford Bridge.
“He reminds me a bit of myself,” Terry said in an interview in 2016, “I hope he goes on to take my position and get in the first team.”
Things have not gone according to plan for Terry and Clarke-Slater as the player has so far gone on to make just one appearance so far this season which came as a late substitute during a League Cup match against Nottingham Forest.
