Rangers blow as 3-goals-4-assists SPFL whizkid could be tempted by English Championship

According to STV, Rangers are set to face fierce competition for the signature of Hamilton Accies midfielder Greg Docherty with English Championship outfit Cardiff City also keen.

Manager Graeme Murty wants quality additions as he goes about a squad overhaul, and the highly-rated 21-year-old is on his January transfer window wishlist.

However, Cardiff could hold the upper hand as they are currently 3rd on the log and one of the favorites to seal English Premier League promotion come May.

With the possibility of playing in the English topflight by August on the cards, Docherty could be swayed into moving to Wales should he eventually decide upon leaving Hamilton this month.

The Scotland youth international has been in great form this term, notching 3 goals and 4 assists in 21 games.

Rangers need more creativity within their ranks, and it’s a feature Docherty would bring to the table if signed.

He is also an influential player capable of deciding the outcome of a game via a moment of brilliance, evident in the way he scored the only goal of last season’s double-legged SPFL play-off against Dundee United, securing his side’s top flight status for this season in the process.
