According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa target Adam Clayton will try to impress Middlesbrough new manager Tony Pulis and he is poised to stay at Riverside Stadium.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who arrived at Middlesbrough from Huddersfield Town back in 2014, had been a regular first-team player up until this season.
However, Clayton was able to collect only 13 appearances in Championship this year, mainly due to injuries as well as due to the fact that former ‘Borough manager Garry Monk had also preferred Jonny Howson and the captain Grant Leadbitter over him.
Nonetheless, the former Leeds United’ player is hoping to impress the new boss Tony Pulis and stay in North Yorkshire.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to add some quality and stamina to his midfield, and he is hoping that Clayton could change his mind.
Villa will face the fierce competition for Clayton’ signature, as Leeds United and Sheffield United are also very interested in his services.
