Newcastle United’s bid for striker reportedly rejected

According to a report published by the Sun, Newcastle United have had a loan bid rejected for West Ham striker Diafra Sakho.

Rafa Benitez has enquired about bringing the 28-year old to his club for the rest of the season as he looks to bolster his side as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

It has come as a surprise that the Magpies are interested in Sakho as he is a injury prone player who has also not played regularly this season.

Sakho has so far played 450 minutes this season and scored four goals, so he has done little to prove that he can help significantly improve the Magpies up front.

It is also unlikely that the Hammers will be willing to loan out any player to fellow relegation candidates.

In addition to West Ham, Everton have also been linked with a potential deal to sign Sakho despite the fact that they completed the signing of Cenk Tosun this weekend.
