Arsenal and Tottenham have been dealt a transfer blow by German club Borussia Monchengladbach who have indicated that they will not sell Jannik Vestergaard this month. The player has been linked with both players during recent weeks.
Arsenal are interested in bringing Vestergaard to their side in order to boost their defence as well as to boost their chances of finishing off in the top four.
Tottenham meanwhile are interested in bringing the player to their side in order to add quality and provide cover given that Toby Alderweireld is injured.
Vestergaard has played every game for Gladbach during the first half of the season and his performances have helped the club to sixth place on the Bundesliga standings.
However as a blow for Arsenal and Tottenham, manager Max Eberl has indicated that the player will not be sold.
“We don’t intend to let anyone go during the winter,” Eberl said. “Vestergaard was one of only six players that were not from Bayern Munich that was named in Opta’s statistically best XI of 2017 from the German top flight.
