According to reports, Sunderland manager Chris Coleman is interested in signing exciting youngster Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea this month.
The Black Cats are currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship standings though they are only two points adrift of safety.
It is evident that they will need to add quality to their roster if they wish to boost their survival hopes this season.
One of the problems for Coleman is that he does not have much funds to play with and will therefore have to look at bringing players to the club on loan.
A factor which could work in the Black Cats favour in their aims to recruit Ampadu is the fact that Coleman was the man who handed the 17-year old his Wales national team debut.
Whether signing a very young and experienced player will be a good move for the Black Cats considering their current situation remains to be seen but it may be a worthwhile gamble.
