Jurgen Klopp makes honest admission following the clash against Everton

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his side did not deserve to be awarded a penalty during their FA Cup win against Everton on Friday.

During the first half of the game, the Reds were awarded a penalty after Mason Holgate was judged to have brought down Adam Lallana in the area and James Milner made no mistake in converting from the resulting spot-kick.

Everton were also awarded a controversial penalty when the two sides clashed in the Premier League last month and Klopp admitted that his side were lucky this time around.

He said: “It was a similar situation [to the penalty against Liverpool for Everton last month]: the first one was no penalty in my opinion and this one wasn’t also. It’s the same.”

Liverpool went on to win the game late on after new signing Virgil Van Dijk managed to score a winner on his debut.
