Scottish Daily Record have broadcasted the words of former Celtic striker Chris Sutton about the current situation of Celtic’ forward Moussa Dembele.
French U-21 international had some problems with the club recently, and it seems that he could be on the way out from Celtic Park, with Brighton being the favorite for his signature.
The most prolific striker in Scottish Premiership was involved in the incident during the game Celtic played against biggest rivals Rangers where he showed anger after being substituted, and it was characterized as a disrespectful gesture to the club and players by the ex Hooks midfielder Kris Commons.
Celtic have dominated the Scottish Championship for years, but on the European scene, they have not shined, and to be able to deal with Zenit in the knockout stage of Europa League, they will need a player like Dembele.
Now Chris Sutton has tried to influence club officials to try to keep the 21-year-old forward till the end of the season, saying: “People forget Moussa Dembele is only 21 and at that age you peak and trough. That’s why some of the criticism after his performance against Rangers in the last game has been OTT. There seems to be an element of the Celtic support saying the club should jump at £18m but it would leave a huge hole in the team if he left.
“Who would you replace Dembele with if he went? Everton have just forked out £27m to sign Cenk Tosun from Besiktas. I’m a big fan of Leigh Griffiths but he’s had injuries and Celtic wouldn’t have that physical presence. Once Dembele gets a run of games I’m convinced he’ll get back to form.”
