Ross Barkley has admitted that he joined Chelsea over Tottenham and Arsenal in order to compete for major trophies and to try and improve as a player under Antonio Conte.
The midfielder who has not played this season due to a hamstring injury, completed a £15 million move from Everton to Chelsea on Friday.
After rejecting a new contract offer with Everton, he was reportedly watched by Arsenal and Tottenham with Spurs even offering to match the salary package that Chelsea has offered.
Barkley is however confident that Chelsea is the right place to be at, at this current point in time as he looks to continue his development as a player.
He told Chelsea TV: ‘I came to Chelsea, I’m ambitious and I’m wanting to further my career by winning things and playing with the best players.
‘Obviously it was a big decision of mine to leave my boyhood club but I felt this was the right decision to come to a massive club like Chelsea and improve myself and challenge for trophies.’
