The Express broadcasted the news from The Sun about possible interest of Leeds United for 22-year-old left-back Sam McQueen from Southampton.
According to the same source, Leeds would be willing to offer a loan deal to Southampton, with Reading and Brentford having also shown great interest in the player.
With Ryan Bertrand regularly playing on the left flank, the Southampton’s academy product McQueen has found very little space on the pitch this season, and manager Mauricio Pellegrino would like to send him on a loan spell to get him some playing time.
Leeds would like to bring an adequate backup player for Gaetano Berardi, who has impressed this season playing on the left-back position, and McQueen would be an ideal addition.
McQueen is a tireless runner, with solid crossing ability and he can cover all positions on the left-hand side.
However, if Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen is really willing to bring the young player at Elland Road, he will have to beat some serious competition, as Reading and Brentford are not ready to give up on McQueen.
