Ex-German international explains how Liverpool bound player is harming current team

Former Germany national team and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Simon Rolfes has said that Naby Keita’s move to Liverpool is harming RB Leipzig.

Keita was one of the stars of the Bundesliga last season as his performances helped Leipzig to shockingly finish off the Bundesliga season in second position and qualify for the Champions League.

The player became a target of many elite clubs during the summer as a result of his performances from last season and he eventually agreed to join Liverpool in June though he will only arrive at Anfield at the end of the season.

Rolfes believes that this has caused Keita to lose motivation to perform for Leipzig this season.

“Keita has enormous potential,” he said. “(But) he has not had the same impact that he did last season. Too often, he has been undisciplined and has harmed his team.”
