Aston Villa reportedly keen on League One star

According to reports, Aston Villa are interested in signing Nick Powell from League One side Wigan Athletic.

The former Manchester United man Powell has been in superb form this season as he has gone on to score ten goals and record two assists from 21 games to lead his side to the top of League One.

It now appears that Powell’s could be rewarded for his antics in the League One with a move to Villa who are challenging for Premier League promotion.

Villa manager Steve Bruce is familiar with Powell as the player played three games for him during a loan spell with Hull City in 2015/16.

Bruce has already reportedly made an offer for Powell but has been rebuffed. During his time with United, Powell drew comparisons with club legend Eric Cantona.

He has however been unable to live up to those expectations after falling down the pecking order at the club following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
