As per the Daily Record, Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers, alongside Aberdeen will all challenge for the signature of River Plate starlet Joaquin Fernandez, with the Scottish trio set to run the rule over the 18-year-old during next month’s under-20’s Copa Libertadores.

The sensational teenage defender has caught the eyes with his recent performances for the youth teams of the Argentine giants, and his representatives are hoping a move to Europe comes soon with clubs from France also keen.

Fernandez, a Uruguay under-20 international could become highly-sought after come summer once he impresses again during next month’s tournament.

Both Celtic and Rangers have made giving youth a chance priority of recent, with as many as 7 academy graduates across both sides’ matchday squads during last weekend’s derby.
