Newcastle United’s signing of Jean-Alain Boumsong from Rangers has been voted as the worst signing ever made in the top flight during the winter transfer window, according to Four Four Two.
In a recent poll, the news outlet asked fans about the biggest mistakes made during the January transfer window and the majority judged that Newcastle’s Jean-Alain Boumsong was the worst.
Boumsong was selected ahead of the likes of Afonso Alves (second), Benni McCarthy (fourth) and Fernanado Torres (sixth), all of whom ended up having famously poor spell with their respective clubs.

However, this move for Boumsong has now been forever immortalized for the wrong reasons by the fans the worst ever January transfer move.
