Aston Villa are currently in 7th position in the Championship and the Villans are assumed to provide good push for promotion in the season’s second half as they are just six points behind the Cardiff City, who are currently placed in the 4th position.
However as a huge blow in Villa’s hopes of earning promotion, manager Steve Bruce has commented that he does not have enough funds to sign new players this January.
“I’d love to sit here and say a club like ours should be trying to buy a centre-forward in this window, but we certainly can’t do it. We’ve got some good young players here to call on, and we’ve got to go with what we’ve got,” said Bruce.
Bruce has specified that he just has the option to rely on his current crop of players and try to obtain the best performance from them.
Unfortunately, the main cause of this disappointment for Bruce is due to the long list of players who have been sidelined because of injuries. It could be a wise decision for Villa to seek the loan market if they do not have funds to spend this winter.
