Outspoken pundit Chris Sutton has blasted Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for rotating his two main strikers this season.
“The two strikers have looked weary in recent games, and Sutton points out that they have not got into any sort of rhythm as neither are getting a run of games in the side,” wrote Sutton in his column for the Scottish Daily Record.
“Being weary is certainly not a problem for the strikers – they have the opposite problems. You can’t be too critical of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic but for me he has killed his frontmen this term. He hasn’t hung his hat on any of them and as a result none of them look properly up to speed.”
Rodgers has opted to rotate the frontline duties between Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths this season and the Sutton believes that he has “killed his frontmen”.
Dembele has been unable to build upon his sensational performances from last season and has only scored only four goals from 13 appearances though he has been injured for a large part. Griffiths on the other hand has scored five goals from 15 games.
It is quite evident that both forwards are below par this season but the Hoops still occupy first position on the SPL standings.
