The Scottish Daily Record reports that Erik Sviatchenko is officially put on sale by Brendan Rodgers, with FC Copenhagen being the favorites for his signature.
The same paper says that Danish player has been given permission to find a new club after Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers decided that 26-year-old centre-back is no longer needed at Celtic Park.
After arriving from the Danish championship, Sviatchenko imposed himself as a great defender and established a place in the first-team.
Until this season, he was regular in the first team, but now with, Mikael Lustig and Dedryck Boyata as the first choice centre-back duo – the Dane has lost his place.
The former FC Midtjylland defender has been out of the squad for a while and as a result, his price has dropped significantly, so Celtic have no time to waste if they want to make some money from the sale of a bench player.
In a recent interview, Sviatchenko said about his situation, “The manager has told me to find a new club. There have been clubs from several leagues who have contacted my agent. These are attractive clubs, so I’m looking forward to my future with optimism.”
As Erik is no longer in Rodgers’ plans and has been sitting on the bench for a long time,a January transfer is the most realistic option.
