According to reports, Liverpool are still interested in recruiting Leon Goretzka from Schalke despite the fact that they have already spent heavily on signing Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton.
The 22-year old Goretza’s current contract with Schalke is set to expire at the end of the season and considering that he has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus, it is very hard to see him remaining with the Bundesliga club beyond this season.
They will therefore either have to sell in January or risk losing their star for free during the summer transfer window.
The Germany international has so far scored four times in 12 appearances for his club this season and he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club during the January transfer window.
Should Liverpool sign Goretzka, they could have pulled off a major coup as he is one of the rising stars in world football.
