Club declare interest in signing West Ham star permanently

German club Borussia Monchengladbach have issued a statement suggesting that Reece Oxford did not wish to return to parent club West Ham and they have also suggested that they will still look to secure the services of the youngster on a permanent basis.

Oxford was sent on loan to Germany during the summer transfer window on a deal which was supposed to last the entire season.

The Hammers have however opted to recall the player during the January transfer window.

Though Oxford only made a handful of first team appearances for Gladbach, they were reportedly confident that he had what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

“We were informed of their decision to activate the clause and recall him this morning,” said Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl on Friday.

“However, we continue to be in talks with West Ham regarding Reece Oxford completing a permanent move to Borussia. It is also the player’s wish to stay at Gladbach.”
