According to reports, West Ham manager David Moyes is hoping to sign Sunderland defender Lamine Kone during the January transfer window.
Moyes is one that will know Kone well having worked with him last season while at Sunderland. The cash strapped Black Cats are likely to allow Kone to leave in January as they look to get him off their wage bill.
Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has also not used Kone and it seems that he is not in the clubs future plans.
Kone arrived at the Black Cats in January 2016 and during his first season with the club, he helped them avoid relegation from the Premier League.
However from then on, he struggled to emulate those performances and they have not been on par with the performances when he first arrived at the club.
Moyes however sees enough in the defender for him to fit into his struggling club’s side.
