Dietmar Hamann has called on Liverpool to sign a new goalkeeper and defensive midfielder after they completed the signing of Virgil Van Dijk on Wednesday.
Hamann wrote on Twitter: “Welcome to @LFC Virgil van Dijk, add a goalkeeper and a defensive midfielder and we’ve got a team.”
Van Dijk was heavily linked with the Reds since last summer and Jurgen Klopp’s side were unable to complete a deal during last summer.
The Reds have suffered major defensive problems this season which has cost them valuable points and they will be hoping that the addition of Van Dijk to the side can help the situation.
Van Dijk is now the most expensive defender in World football as the £75 million which Tottenham paid for him eclipses the £52 million that Manchester City paid for Kyle Walker.
The Reds have now spent almost £300 million since Klopp became manager in October 2015.
