Celtic set to profit from world record deal

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic are in line to benefit from Virgil Van Dijk’s move to Liverpool.

The Dutch international was heavily linked with a move to the Reds during the summer transfer window as Jurgen Klopp looked to bolster his defence before the club decided against signing Van Dijk.

On Wednesday, Liverpool released a statement confirming that they had signed Van Dijk that said, “Liverpool Football Club can confirm they have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Virgil van Dijk.”

The 26-year old will cost around £75 million which is a record fee of a Dutch player and club record.

Though Southampton will receive a sizable amount of the money, they will not receive the entire sum of money with Van Diyk’s former club Celtic also standing   to benefit.

The Scottish champions will receive around 10%-15% of the figure and they were the club where Van Dijk plied his trade before he joined Liverpool.
