Arsenal legend gives his verdict on how Liverpool star is doing

Paul Merson has said that he believes that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is doing well at Liverpool because he is seeing more of the ball.

Since arriving at the Reds from Arsenal during the summer, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career has undergone a revival and he scored his clubs fifth goal during their Boxing Day triumph against Swansea City.

After initially struggling for game time when he first arrived at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain has gone on to score two goals and provide two assists from 17 appearances.

During his last few games for Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain was used in a wing-back role and it seems that this caused him to become unhappy and is a reason why he left the Gunners.

“What helps him at the moment is his Liverpool team-mates are giving him the ball,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“He makes things happen. Henderson won’t put the ball through the eye of the needle. He is getting more of the ball.”
