Jamie Carragher has said that Roberto Firmino is as valuable to Liverpool as Harry Kane is to Tottenham.
“We mentioned Harry Kane at half time,” Carragher said on Sky Sports. “Is he as ruthless as him in front of goal? No.
“But he may even be almost as important to Liverpool as Harry Kane is to Spurs for the work he does off the ball. Don’t forget his role in the first goal.”
Firmino scored a brace during the Reds 5-0 Boxing Day win over Swansea to take his tally for the season in all competitions to 16.
Kane meanwhile scored his second hat-trick in the space of three days as he helped Spurs record a 5-2 win over Southampton.
Jurgen Klopp has opted to utilize Firmino ahead of Daniel Sturridge during the past few seasons and the Brazil international has been praised for his unselfish nature as Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have all scored crucial goals.
