According to the Chronicle, League One club Scunthorpe United are keen on signing Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff on loan in January.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan with 15th-placed Blackpool until January, and while he’s willing to stay with them until the end of the campaign, Newcastle could decide spending the second half of the campaign with the promotion chasers is better.
Longstaff has been in splendid form despite Blackpool’s average campaign, weighing in 6 goals and assists apiece in 23 games.
The youngster extended his Newcastle contract until 2018 at the start of last campaign, and has attracted the likes of Bristol City, Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers and Bournemouth.
The quartet could still return for Longstaff’s signature, but he’s better off plying his trade at the League One until the end of the campaign.
He remains a huge potential and future star for the Toons if he’s able to keep developing his game as he has done since getting to Blackpool.
