Leeds United reportedly looking to beat Sunderland to the signing of attacker

According to a report published by Somerset Live, Leeds United are hoping to move above Sunderland in the race to sign Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn on loan during the January transfer window.

Woodburn has struggled for game time so far this season and Liverpool are thought to be open to allowing him to leave on loan in January in order to gain more first team experience.

After making his first team debut for the Reds last season, Woodburn became touted as a great up and coming talent, however he has struggled for game time and will be looking to keep his confidence up by playing as regularly as possible during the second half of the season while out on loan.

Sunderland are desperately in need of reinforcements in January as they are in danger of back to back relegations and something that could work to their advantage in the race to sign Woodburn in January is the fact that manager Chris Coleman previously worked with the striker while managing the Wales national team and it was also him who handed the player his international debut.

Leeds however are also keen as they look to make reinforcements in order to push for a place in the promotion playoffs.
