Rangers dealt blow in pursuit of defensive target as EPL side closes in on deal

As per the Daily Mail, Swansea are close to sealing a deal for Falkirk left-back Tony Gallacher, with Rangers now set to miss out on one of their targets.

The 18-year-old defender has attracted scouts from Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United due to his brilliant performances this term, while English Championship trio Derby, Wolves and Sheffield United are also keeping tabs.

Gallacher has played 17 games across all competitions for the Scottish Championship side this season, weighing in 2 assists amidst the many chances he creates per game.

Rangers currently have Declan John, Lee Wallace and Lee Hodson as their left-back options, but are still keen on adding a highly-rated future signing in the form of Gallacher.

However, another signing in the position isn’t top priority right now with central midfield in need of depth.

Swansea had a £750,000 bid for the Scotland youth international knocked back last summer and will have to part with a fee within that range to land their man next month.

However, It remains to be seen if cash-strapped Rangers would have been willing to spend that much on a signing who isn’t top priority.
