Dietmar Hamann believes that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp needs to find a defensive midfield signing.
The Reds have been fantastic in attack this season with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all in top form.
Their defense however has been below par and their frailties were once again exposed on Friday as they blew a 2-0 lead at half-time to draw 3-3 with Arsenal.
Other times when the poor defending was showcased this season included during the 4-1 defeat to Spurs, 5-0 defeat to Manchester City and 3-3 Champions League draw with Sevilla.
“What is missing is a holding midfielder,” Hamann told askfans.co.uk.
“The balance of the team sometimes is not right. Both Henderson and Can would be better if they had a (Nemanja) Matic or a (N’Golo) Kante next to them.
“They are good players but could be even better with somebody else next to them.
“Can and Henderson are very similar. They are players who like to drive with the ball, get in the box and score goals. In Wijnaldum they have got another one who is pretty similar.”
