Marvin Compper, who last week joined Celtic from German side RB Leipzig, has revealed that the presence of Brendan Rodgers as Hoops manager played a key role in his choice to join the Scottish giants.

After falling down the pecking order at Leipzig, the 32-year old Compper joined the Hoops last week for a fee of around £1 million and he adds experience to the side.

Compper who has played over 250 games in the Bundesliga will not be eligible to participate in Europa League games.

Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers recently revealed that he views Compper as a replacement for KoloToure who left the Hoops at the end of last season.

Compper told The Scottish Sun about Rodgers: “He is very good at communicating with players and making them better. He has shown that in his time here already. I hope to gain some insights. He was absolutely a big factor in me coming here.”
