Paul Merson has predicted that Everton will win their Boxing Day encounter against West Brom.
Merson said: “Sam Allardyce just does what it says on the tin and that is what they were hoping for at West Brom, was it not? It is alright West Brom saying they were unlucky, but I just do not see it. I think Everton will go there and frustrate them and win 2-1.
“It was easy when West Brom were 2-0 down at home to Man Utd the other week, as then they started playing. And that would be a shocking result for West Brom.”
After starting the season in underwhelming fashion, the Toffees have enjoyed a resurgence under Sam Allardyce and remain unbeaten under the veteran manager.
After a gutsy defensive performance during the weekend, they managed to play out to a creditable 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
West Brom meanwhile are struggling and Sunday’s 3-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Stoke leaves them in 19th position on the Premier League standings.
The Toffees looked like they would struggle to avoid relegation for much of the first half of the season but they are now in 9th position on the standings and will go into this game as the firm favourites.
