Newcastle could finally see the back of out-of-favour striker Aleksandar Mitrovic next month as West Brom have now made him a top target for the winter transfer window.
The 23-year-old has played just 90 minutes of Premier League football this term having made just 6 appearances off the bench, and manager Rafa Benitez will be more than keen to sanction a deal in order to free up transfer funds.
West Brom boss Alan Pardew is a long-term admirer of Mitrovic having attempted to sign him while at Crystal Palace, and it seems he’s now closer to landing his man.
The Baggies have found themselves at the risk of relegation following a poor start to the campaign that led to the exit of erstwhile manager Tony Pulis, and Pardew reckons the Serbian striker can help fire his side to safety.
The £13million Newcastle signing bagged 9 Premier League goals in his first season at Saint James’ Park following an impressive return of 36 goals in 69 Belgian Pro League games for Anderlecht.
While Mitrovic might not seem like the ideal striker for the Toons, he could be of huge benefit to West Brom in their race to stay up.
