Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko will most likely be moving elsewhere in the January transfer window after it was confirmed earlier this week that the Hoops had completed the signing of Marvin Compper from RB Leipzig.
Celtic currently boast five specialized center-backs after securing the signature of Compper and among the five, the 26-year-old Erik Sviatchenko looks the most likely expendable assets for the Hoops.
This is mainly because Sviatchenko is not a regular at Celtic Park and the new addition of Compper into the team naturally means that it is the Danish international’s game time could be further compromised.
Sviatchenko has had to spend long time in the sidelines so far this season and such a situation has directly resulted in the defender to lose his first team position.
Now according to reports, it looks like Sviatchenko’s time at Celtic will be coming to an end following the arrival of Commper.
If indeed Celtic decide to sell, it will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old will go during the January transfer window as there probably will be very few clubs interested in investing in an injury prone defender like the Dane.
