Everton reportedly keen on Spanish goalkeeper to provide Pickford competition

According to reports, Everton are interested in Espanyol goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez Gago. The 31-year old Gago is currently on loan at Malaga from Espanyol and is said to be valued at £1 million.

Jordan Pickford has impressed as Everton first choice goalkeeper this season and the club also have the duo of Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles as cover.

Joel’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he will likely leave the club in order to find first team opportunities elsewhere. This means that Roberto could be a good signing in order to add cover for Pickford.

Roberto began his career with Atletico Madrid with whom he won the Europa League in 2010 and has also had successful spells with the likes of Benfica and Olympiacos before he decided to return to Spain during the summer.
