Rangers dealt blow as 59-year-old managerial target could land top gig next month

Rangers appeared to have been boosted in their search for a new manager after erstwhile West Brom boss Tony Pulis branded them one of the great clubs of English football.

Speculations linking the 59-year-old to the Ibrox job became rife as a result, but recent developments have poured cold water on emerging rumours.

While Pulis isn’t keen on returning to management until January, Stoke City are said to be already preparing to bring him back to the Britannia Stadium for a 3rd spell.

The Potters are currently 17th on the Premier League log – just a point off the relegation places, and the future of manager Mark Hughes at the club is in huge doubt, with fans voicing out their disapproval over the poor campaign during weekend’s 3-0 loss to West Ham.

Pulis remains good friends with Stoke Chairman Peter Coates, and a return can’t be ruled out next month if results don’t change.

Remaining in the English topflight is without a doubt appealing to Pulis, and Rangers are better off looking elsewhere for Pedro Caixinha’s successor.
