Everton boss Allardyce makes a big claim about Rooney

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has claimed that Wayne Rooney can carry on playing at the highest level for years to come.

The 32-year-old Rooney left Manchester United to join his boyhood club Everton during the summer transfer window and has proven to be a key player for the Toffees so far this season.

His penalty during his club’s 3-1 victory over Swansea on Monday means that he has scored six goals in his last five games and 11 this season.

Rooney has also managed to feature regularly this season and has played in all but two of his sides Premier League fixtures.

“He’s had a huge career hasn’t he, but he’s only 32, not in his mid-30s,” said the Blues boss. “Looking after yourself a different way when you go into your mid-30s is what it is all about now.

“Wayne can flourish as long as he wants with the talent he has got. As long as he looks after his body, better than he has ever done in his life now that he is in his 30s, then he can keep going at this level.

“He has the experience and the talent to go on for a good few years yet.”
