As per The Sun, Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame is a subject of interest from Turkish Super Lig sides Goztepe and Sivasspor ahead of the January transfer window.
The 30-year-old has been in and out of the Toons’ first team picture this term, starting just 4 league games, and an exit next month appears to be on the cards.
Diame’s suitors are looking to table a £2.5million bid in order to land their man, and Newcastle are expected to cash in given he has just a year left on his deal before becoming a free agent.
Manager Rafa Benitez wants to add quality recruitments to his squad next month in order to help retain his side’s Premier League status at the end of the season.
Given the club’s lack of funds, Diame’s sale could help make cash available for other signings.
The Senegalese was a crucial part of the team as Newcastle secured promotion from the Championship last term, but he has found it hard thus far to reproduce that form.
With such average quality within their ranks, it would be hard for the club to keep up with the demands of the topflight.
As such, Newcastle shouldn’t hesitate to let Diame go for the quoted price.
