West Bromwich Albion complete major signing

West Brom have announced that they have triggered their option to sign Ahmed Hegazi permanently for an undisclosed fee in a deal which will run till 2022.

Hegazi initially arrived at the Baggies on loan from Egyptian club Al-Ahly during the summer transfer window.

He has so far exceeded expectations and this was what ultimately led to Liverpool becoming interested and the Baggies opting to sign the player permanently.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key part of the Baggies first team and has won three out of five man of the match awards which West Brom have picked up in the Premier League this season.

The only defender who has picked up more man of the match awards than Hegazi in the Premier League this season is James Tarkowski of Burnley – who has picked up four awards.

“This is great news for the club – Ahmed has been absolutely terrific for me since I arrived and I am sure there is even more to come from him in the future,” West Brom manager Alan Pardew told the club’s official website about the signing.

“He is one of the players we can build around on the road ahead. He has a big role to play and it is good for the player and the club to remove any doubts and make the transfer permanent. I am sure it is something the supporters will also welcome.”
