Everton reportedly keen on Dutch international

Everton are reportedly preparing an offer for Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij. The Dutch internationals current contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Lazio are struggling to secure his long-term future.

Everton struggled defensively during the early parts of the season as they played poorly and de Vrij is said to be one of the players that are looking to sign to reinforce their side.

As de Vrij is entering the final six months of his contract with Lazio, he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.

Everton will however face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AC and Inter Milan in the race to sign de Vrij.

Meanwhile the Toffees are said to be looking at Crystal Palace left-back Patrick Van Aanholt as a possible left-back signing.

Allardyce and Van Aanholt have previously worked together at Crystal Palace as well as at Sunderland.
