Gary Lineker took to Twitter to heap praise on Marko Arnautovic for helping West Ham record a 3-0 win against Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday.
Lineker praised Arnautovic and wrote on Twitter: “After about 33 efforts on goal and being booed the entire game by the Stoke fans, Arnautovic finally scores against his former club. Did he celebrate? Too right he did.”
The Austrian was subjected to jeers throughout the match by Stoke fans who have not forgiven him for bitterly leaving the club at the end of the season to join West Ham during the summer for a fee of £20 million.
The 28-year-old was widely criticized for his performances during the early parts of the season as the Hammers struggled but he has since appeared to have undergone rejuvenation under the guidance of David Moyes.
Mark Noble put the Hammers ahead after converting a penalty during the first half and it was Arnautovic who scored the second after an exchange of passes with Manuel Lanzini.
