Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona has encouraged Real Madrid to offload Manchester United and Tottenham target Gareth Bale.
The Wales international has struggled with injuries throughout 2017 and has made just 11 appearances for his club in all competitions so far this season, scoring four goals in the process.
Bale has since returned from injury and netted for Los Blancos this week after coming off the bench during their 2-1 Club World Cup semi-final win against Al Jazira.
Maradona however believes that Madrid need to focus on selling Bale or giving him away and recruiting Kylian Mbappe who is currently with PSG on loan from Monaco.
He said: “Madrid the best right now? I don’t think so… I don’t think either they or Barcelona are at their best right now.
“PSG? No, they don’t satisfy me. They’re very dependent on Neymar, plus the goals of (Edinson) Cavani and Mbappe, who for me is the revelation of football. Is he the future? It seems to me that he can rise above many others. Madrid could’ve signed him.
“Why didn’t they sign him? I told Florentino (Perez) to sign Mbappe, but he said he already had Cristiano (Ronaldo).
“Bale? Let them sell Bale or give him away, although Florentino is less likely to give him away… but I think they had to sign Mbappe.
“(Karim) Benzema’s role? There have always been players like him, players that wear down defenders, so that those who really have to score, do so. Am I fan? Absolutely.”
