As per The Sun, Liverpool are keen on Atletico Madrid fullback Sime Vrsaljko ahead of the January transfer window with manager Jurgen Klopp planning to strengthen his weak defence.
The 25-year-old, rated £22million, is able to play at both right and left-back, and despite just playing 4 league games thus far this term, he is also attracting Serie A title contenders Napoli.
Having played just 20 La Liga games since agreeing a 5-year contract last year, Vrsaljko is leaning towards the exit door, and Liverpool could have an advantage if they are willing to meet his release clause.
The Reds currently have 3 options each at both left and right-back, with the trio of Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Nathaniel Clyne available for the former, and James Milner, Alberto Moreno and Andrew Robertson the latter.
However, with issues and shortcomings at centre-back giving Klopp growing concerns, Gomez could be moved to the middle, while Alexander-Arnold is seen more as a defensive midfielder than fullback going forward.
Vrsaljko could prove to be a great buy for Liverpool, but it remains to be seen if he’s the type of signing the Reds badly need.
