As per Spanish publication Diario de Leon, Leeds United are planning a swoop on former Real Valladolid striker Alfredo Ortuno ahead of the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old is currently without a club having left the Spanish second division earlier this term, and the Whites are looking to snap him up.
However, Ortuno won’t be linking up with manager Thomas Christiansen’s side at Elland Road if a deal is secured.
Rather, the Spanish forward will be joining Leeds’ partner club Cultural Leonesa on loan, with his performances likely to determine if he will be joining the Whites in the end.
Ortuno bagged 17 goals – a career best – while on loan at Cadiz last term, and can still prove to be a shrewd acquisition if things go his way.
Leeds’ Director of Strategy Ivan Bravo is the CEO of Qatari group Aspire Academy – owners of Leonesa, and both clubs could be forming a great partnership as far as players’ exchange goes.
Leeds currently have a plethora of attacking options within their ranks, but if Ortuno is able to replicate his form of last term at Leonesa, he could be on his way to get England by summer.
