Rangers blow could be Leeds boost in regards to signing 21-year-old EPL starlet

Leeds have been handed a boost ahead of next month’s transfer window, as Manchester United are looking to let young midfielder Scott McTominay go on loan until the end of the season.

The Red Devils rejected an offer from Rangers to have the 21-year-old in January, and that could be as a result of the level of competition and quality available in the Scottish Premiership.

United see the Championship as a better place for McTominay to go get some experience, and alongside the Whites, Preston and Bolton are on alert.

Given the further need for depth in midfield during the second half of the season, and with uncertainty over the future of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini, it can’t be guaranteed that McTominay will be allowed to leave.

Should a loan move be sanctioned, however, Premier League-chasing Leeds can do with the youngster’s quality, while he can also be helped to take his game to the next level with regular playing minutes.

The Scottish box-to-box midfielder has superb technical ability, and can be a tough competition and quality cover for the current Leeds’ deep-lying midfielders.
