This man should be West Ham manager says Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy has suggested that he feels that Everton manager Sam Allardyce should still be in charge of West Ham.

Allardyce succeeded Avram Grant as manager of the Hammers after the club were relegated from the Premier League during the 2010-11 season.

“I thought what he did at Bolton was unbelievable over a long period of time, developed them and their squad and since then really probably West Ham was one of the longest ones (jobs) he had and I thought they were developing really well,” Murphy told The Debate.

“He got a bit unlucky there I thought losing his job, I know there’s always a bit about the style thing with West Ham, but getting them up, keeping them mid table, playing some good stuff.

“He had a bad second half to the season just before he left and I think he’s more than capable (of developing Everton).”

Despite Allardyce largely generating mixed emotions for his ability as a manager, he did well when he was in charge of the Hammers for four years and led the club from the Championship to being a modest team in the top flight.

Big Sam eventually left the Hammers in 2015 with Slaven Bilic becoming his successor. While Dimitri Payet was shining for the club, Bilic led the Hammers to their highest ever Premier League finish of seventh place during the 2015-16 season.

Since then things have gone downhill. Bilic was recently sacked and replaced by David Moyes and the Hammers are struggling to avoid relegation.
