Newcastle stumbled to their 9th defeat of the Premier League campaign on Saturday, losing 3-2 at the hands of Leicester City at home.
To rescue what is now quickly becoming a relegation-threatened season, the 16th-placed side need to do quality business next month when the transfer window opens.
As per reports, Newcastle are still very much interested in the services of Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun ahead of the the January market, and signing the £20million hitman might be the difference between relegating and staying up.
The 26-year-old Turkey international has scored 12 goals in 23 games for both club and country this season to keep up with his explosive form, and he seems the type of emergency signing the Toons need.
The club’s prolonged takeover talks are likely to have a toll on transfers next month, so things could be complicated as far as getting a £20million Tosun goes.
This current squad clearly will struggle to stay up, and failure to add quality players next month could spell doom for Newcastle.
Tosun should be top of their target if they want to play Premier League football next season.
